Two new elevated railway corridors for Mumbai

Mumbai will have two new elevated railway corridors, to meet the requirement for increasing suburban passengers. The announcement was made by Railway minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu today, in the first session of railway budget presented by him. The two elevated corridors will be between Churchgate and Virar and CST and Panvel. There was nothing much offered to Mumbai, besides there two announcements. Hope, something more, comes in the second session.railway

The railway minister did announce that the speed of the railway, will contribute towards progress of nation. But, Mumbaikars will have to wait for long, till these two services become operative. In the meantime, the passengers in Mumbai travelling  by local trains will have to suffer. At present, the trans, especially on the western railway are moving with a very slow speed. The time taken by fast trains travelling from Borivali to Churchgate used to take 35 minutes earlier. But, it takes more than an hour presently. The time taken by slow train between Borivali and Churchgate takes one hour 25 minutes, instead of one hour five minutes.

There is more time taken at clearance of tracks at Dadar and stations beyond Andheri. Luckily, there was no fare rise announced in the first session. And, there was no announcement about long awaited introduction of A.C. Trains on Central and Western railway in Mumbai.   .
