‘A Flying Jatt ‘attempts a fantasy with Indian version of Superhero

In the past, we have seen many super hero films in Hindi, which were inspired by Hollywood films. Prominent among them were ‘Mr.India’, ‘Krrish’, ‘Drona’, RaOne’ and so on. Now, the latest addition to this list has been Balaji Motion Pictures’ latest offering ‘A Flying Jatt’ starring Tiger Shroff’ playing the title role. Directed by Remo D’souza, the film begins well, narrating the story of a Sikh Warrior ( Armaan’s brave father)  who sacrifices his life to protect the people from Punjab province from the attack of cruel bandits. Like father, Amaan also becomes a martial arts expert and trains children at a school. But, he is scared of the height and also his mother.Flying Jatt Poster

His mother( Amrita Singh) , who is a brave woman dares to challenge businessman Malhotra( Kay kay menon)  from acquiring her land. Amaan acquires super power, when a demon-Raaka(Nathan Jones) attacks him and  presses him against a holy tree. Thereafter, we the see the fight between Amaan, who turns a flying Jatt to protect the environment on mother earth v/s Raaka, who believes in getting his energy from the polluted atmosphere. In the climax, we find the flying Jatt dressed up in super hero attire carrying Raaka to another planet , to finish him off.

Tiger Shroff finds a suitable tailor made role for himself in this film, as there is not much scope for acting.  Jacqueline Fernandez as Kirti, the girlfriend of Amaan is just fine, while good support comes from Nathan Jones , kay kay Menon, Amrita Singh and others. Cinematography  by Vijay Kumar Arora is impressive and special effects team has done a good job.

All in all, ‘A Flying Jatt’ has attempted a fantasy , presenting an average  Indian version of superhero , to entertain a particular class of audience who love to watch such films. The screenplay could have been much better, if the director had paid attention only on action and entertainment, instead of mixing it with not so impressive emotional part. Moreover, one expected good music and better choreography from the director, considering his choreography background. But, he has disappointed in this department, which is the biggest drawback of this film.
