Aryan Deshpande played a stellar role as Dombivli Gymkhana beat Officers’ Club 3-1 to make the inter-club title round in the cadet/midget boys team event of the 2nd Thane District Ranking and Inter-Club Table Tennis Tournament hosted by JSW Steel and Jindal Table Tennis Academy under the auspices of Thane District Table Tennis Association at Vasind today.
Dombivli Gymkhana started badly, losing the opening singles with Mohite Shejwale going down to Abhishek Dandekar 4-1. However, the Dombivli outfit went 2-1 up as first Aaryan defeated Garv Utekar 11-3,11-3, 13-11 , followed by their doubles pair of Mohit Shejwale and Neel G scoring over Paridhi Agarwal and Abhishek Dandekar in straight games to go 2-1 up. Aaaryan then saw them through as he got the better of Paridhi 3-2 in the second singles to clinch the tie. The winners next takes on Boosters’ TT Academy, who outplayed hosts Jindal TT Academy 3-0. Officers Club, however, had the consolation of finishing third as they routed Jindal TTA 3-0 in the losing semifinalists tie.
