Mumbai, October 3: Defending champions Air India recorded a thumping 7-0 win against PIFA Colaba FC in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Saturday evening.
Air India started off in an attacking fashion and wrested the initiative from the outset. They did not take much time to open the scoring with seasoned striker Neil Gaikwad finding the net in the 12th minute before Ashkar C.V. doubled the lead in the 33rd minute as Air India went into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
After the change of ends, Air India scored five more times to complete the rout. Subhas Chakraborty in the 48th minute, Aaron D’Costa twice in the 56th & 83rd minutes, Ashkar again in the 72nd minute and Sunny Thakur scoring in the 75th minute to complete the rout.
The next Elite Division match will be played between Union Bank of India and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers on Sunday, October 4 at 3.00 pm.
