Bandra Heroes, Ghatkopar Jets on course

Title hopeful Bandra Heroes thrashed Thane Marathas by 5 wickets in a low scoring return tie in the  double-leg Mitsui Shoji T-20 League, sponsored by Lal Bharwaney  and held at Oval Maidan, here today.  Bandra outfit with six wins in seven outings are at the top of the table.

Opener Akhtar Shaikh hit an unbeaten  78 with seven fours and five sixes, as defending champions, Ghatkopar Jets  routed Shivaji Park Warriors  by 10 wickets in the afternoon.  However, the only bright spot in Shivaji Park Warriors’ innings was Dhrumal Matkar’s fine knock of  52, with six fours and two sixes ..

Thane Marathas, who are languishing at the bottom of the five-team table, opted to bat first after winning the toss. But their batsmen once again failed miserably and were shot out   for 70. In reply, Bandra Heroes, though did lose their openers with 10 runs on the board in  2.3 overs, Nishant Williams and Shoaib Siddqui batted untroubled to take the score to  43 before Nishant fell. Shoaib, too, followed with just seven runs away from victory. He was caught in the deep while trying for a big hit off Imtiaz Ahmed.

Shivaji Park Warriors 103 (Dhrumal Matkar 52 – 6×4, 2×6); Puneet Tripathi 4/4,  Yash Dicholkar 3/16) lost to Ghatkopar Jets 104/no wkt (Akthar Shaikh n.o.78, Kushal Shah n.o.  22) by 10 wkts.
