‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ offers average entertainment

Films offering stories on the backdrop of small towns have always offered standard entertainment to all types of audience. ‘Bareli Ki Barfi’ as the title suggests is no different than these types of films. But’t don’t confuse it for sweet recipe, as the title of the film is the name of a book whose declared writer is Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao) and whose photograph is printed on the backside of the book. The book is published by Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana), who is the real author of the book and owns a printing press. Pritam is just his friend, who is into sales job elsewhere.bareli Ki barfi

The doesn’t find readers, but Bitti Mishra (Kriti Sanon) a young contemporary girl from Uttar Pradesh who is a casual smoker, loves break dance and watches English films. One day, she buys this book  titled ‘Bareli Ki Barfi’ from a book stall at a railway station to pass her time during train journey. She finds her choice in the writer of this book, as she finds herself described and accepted by the writer in the content of this book. Bitti’s father (Pankaj Tripathi) is broad minded person   but her mother (Seema Bhargava) wants to see her daughter get married to a nice man from a good family.

Bitti, who after reading the book, goes in search of the writer and meets Chirag, the printing press owner, who promises her to arrange a meeting with the writer, but initially asks her to exchange letters through him.   Bitti does become friendly with Chirag, but is keen on meeting Pritam. Finally, Chirag arranges their meeting with the help of his local friend by visiting Pritam’s town and  bringing him back to his town to introduce to Bitti. After meeting Bitti,  we find a lot of interesting happenings in the screenplay, but some of the scenes have been dragged unnecessarily.

All the six artistes  have performed very well in this film, offering some humour. However, music of this film is not very impressive. As a result, ‘Bareli Ki barfi’ has turned out to be an average entertainer.
