‘Befikre’ promotes European culture in India

At a time when Europeans are appreciating Indian culture, our Bollywood film makers are still interested in going the other way, by promoting European culture in India. Latest released Hindi film  ’Befikre’  directed by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yashraj Films is the best example. There was a time, when late Yash Chopra presented Indian values through his films for four decades till 90s. But, it seems that the next generation of Chopras is more keen on promoting all such unwanted practices, which are sending a wrong message to the new generation in India. The film has been cleverly marketed with the help of dance & music, during promotion of this film.Befikre poster

Actually, ‘Befikre’  is a story of youths,  which teaches you to be carefree in love. A typical Delhi youngster Dharam (Ranveer Singh) comes to Paris for work , but is in search of free sex, rather than focusing on his job.  Just when he was about to go on board, he bumps into a disorderly French speaking Indian girl Shyra (Vaani Kapoor), whose parents are running a restaurant. An aggressive  romance develops between Dharam & Shyra  in which both test each other’s patience. They try ‘live in relationship’, then have a  break up and reunite again, only to find that Shyra has decided to marry a banker. Finally, we find two of them coming together in a filmy style in the climax.

The entire film is full of songs, dances, romance with intimate kissing scenes with Ranveer Singh leaving behind Imraan Hashmi , and setting  a new record of intimate kissing scenes in this film. Then you witness the night club culture, drinking beer on the bridge, drink and drive, free sex and so on.  There is hardly any story in this film, but the entire screenplay of this film, is written just with the intention of spreading all these immoral practices in our country. At the end of the film, you find a slide with a message,’ Kiss Carefree, Love Carefree, Live Carefree. Surprisingly, the film has been issued with U/A certification.

Only good thing about this film is a wonderful performance by Ranveer Singh. Plus, there is  good music by Vishal Shekhar, supported by equally good background music by Mikey McCleary and superb aerial cinematography by  Kaname Onoyama, which goes well with Yashraj films tradition.  Last but not the least, the film stands by its title.
