Chaminda Vaas impressed with the talent at Mitsui Shoji T20 League


Legendary Sri Lankan fast bowler, Chaminda Vaas was the star attraction during the afternoon coaching session with the Mitsui Shoji’s T20 league  selected youngsters  under the Jwala Sports Foundation’s Centre of Excellence for Cricket, atMumbai Police Gymkhana here today.

Vaas, who will be coaching the young fast bowlers during his one-week stay , later spoke to the press. Vaas said: “Happy to be back again. I was part of the Mitsui Shoji T20 league last year and this year also I am here to support and train the top players of this league under the in Centre Of Excellance For Cricket.

“I was very much impressed  with the talent  I came across during the league last year. That’s why when Mr Jwala Singh approached me to spare time to coach the youngsters, I readily agreed.  All these boys that I have seen need a bit of corrections before they play at higher level.”

Vaas will also be guiding the under-14 and under-16 boys in the next four days. Ex-India and Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer too will be assisting him  during  his stint here..

Meanwhile, in the concluding league tie, Shivaji Park Warriors  scored an upset win over Police Cityriders by six wickets. The four qualifiers for the knock out stage are: Bandra Heroes (12 pts), Mumbai Police Cityriders (10), Ghatkopar Jets (8) and Shivaji ParkWarriors (8),
