Future BCCI body – a bit of fertile imagination

With  the Supreme Court taking up the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) hearing today and may be deciding its fate, how about looking at the likely composition of the new BCCI just in case..  It may appear to be  preposterous and yet quite interesting to look at the new officials, who can be the future  bosses of cricket in the country. (Of course, all this goes with a rider that none of the gentlemen mentioned have conflict of interest).

Let’s start with the President.  Who can be better than Sunil Gavaskar, who had headed the BCCI temporarily in the past or for that matter Sourav Ganguly, who has been president of the Bengal Cricket Association or even handsome looking Anurag Thakkur, who was forced to quit by Supreme Court.

Next comes vice presidents. The best course is to have eligible representatives of North (Kapil Dev/Gautam Gambhir), West (non-controversial Sachin Tendulkar), East (present selection committee chairman MSK Prasad), South (loud mouth Krish Shrikanth) and Central (Former India Leg Spinner Narendra Hirwani ) on the board.

As for the Secretary’s post, there can’t anybody better than suave Rahul Dravid or even Anil Kumble..  While Diana Edulji or Anjum Chopra who could be its joint Secretary (since now women too are part of the cricket body). Of course,  for the financial matters, BCCI can have a qualified treasurer- (as I doubt we have anybody in cricket circles who can be qualified for the post).

With so much controversy going on, new BCCI should have a media manager and you certainly can consider ace commentator Harsha Bhogle for the post. The BCCI Committee members should comprise qualified representatives from Test playing centres from the eligible states, but  these representatives should be nominated by the respective state bodies. The only condition being  that none of them hold any position in those state bodies.

And lastly, it should be made mandatory that no person, who is a Minister (be it at centre or State), M.P., MLA or politician  belonging to ruling or opposition parties,  should be associated with the functioning of the BCCI.
