Eleven years ago Rohit Shetty acquired this brand of ‘Golmaal’, perhaps inspired by 1979 Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film with the same name starring Amol Palekar in the lead. Later he made 2 more films based on this brand name and now he presents the fourth version with the name of ‘Golmaal Again’. But, this time, instead of offering a complete comedy, he has tried to present the story which mixes horror with comedy to ofer mass entertainment.
‘Golmaal Again ‘ presents the story of a gang of five comprising of Gopal( Ajay Devgn),Madhav ( Arshad Warsi), Lucky ( Tushar Kapoor), Lakshman( Shreyas Talpade) & Laxman( Kunal Khemu). How they face their opponents and how they are helped by others , is well presented through its screenplay, to offer the kind of entertainment much needed for the audience during their Diwali vacation. One never expects much of logical thinking from Rohit Shetty films, as they are meant for entertaining the audience. Therefore, ‘Golmaal Again’ fits into this required formula of entertainment.
Performances are good from all these five actors, besides Pariniti Chopra, Tabu, Jhony Lever , Prakash Raj and others. Music by Amar Mohile is fine with good support coming from cinematographer Jomon T. John to make it technically sound film. Don’t expect much from this film, when you buy tickets. Just watch it for the sake of entertainment.
