Govinda fails to impress through ‘Aa Gaya Hero’

In his acting career of 30 years, Govinda has acted in about 125 films, entertaining the audience. But, his fans always preferred him in comedy roles. Director David Dhavan always exploited the best out of him and made him more popular. Govinda also had the capacity to play the solo hero effectively, though his pairing with Sanjay Dutt in parallel roles had given hit films.  Govinda

Through his latest film ‘AA Gaya Hero’ which is also produced by him, Govinda this time plays  an action hero, on his own script. And, this is the biggest drawback of this film. The film doesn’t have a story to keep  the audience engaged. All the happenings in the film have been the patch work of various Hindi action films of the past, especially those released in 90s. In the film Govinda plays fearless dashing ACP Ravindra Varma, who becomes a nightmare for law breakers. He  has his own plan with the code name ‘Abhinay Chakra’ and puts up a play act to trap goons and corrupt politicians to  accept their crimes by indulging them in fake situations.

With the use of this typical old formula of action films, even director Dipankar Senapati couldn’t offer much, except for entertaining in parts with dialogue deliveries used by film’s hero. There are many well known actors like  Ashutosh Rana, Makarand Deshpande, Murli Sharma, Chandrachur Singh playing different characters, but they have been simply wasted in this film, with entire focus on the hero. Also, there is hardly any scope for female characters. Most of the songs in the film are not based on any situation. Even music is not very impressive. As a result of this, the film and the film’s hero Govinda fail to impress through the entire film. Only thing to be appreciated is Govinda’s enthusiasm and his quick reflexes, displaying his fitness through his dancing steps.
