‘Guest in London’ is bitten by the bug of ‘Atithi….’

In the year 2010 director Ashwini Dhir presented a film ‘Atithi Tum kab jaoge’ with Paresh rawal playing the title role of ‘Atithi’.  It was a good comedy film for a change, with Ajay Deogn and Konkona Sen offering good support in the lead roles.  Now, after seven years, the same director presents another film with the title ‘Guest in London’ with almost a similar type of theme, with versatile actor Paresh Rawal once again playing the guest, but this time in London.Guest in London

So, as this film progresses, you keep guessing  as to what is the purpose of visit of this guest couple played  Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi to London and especially in the house of Aryan and Anaya( played by Kartik Aryan & Kriti Kharbanda respectively , who are actually in live in relationship, to make adjustments for themselves. The film fails to generate interest, the way, this director’s previous film on this subject did. Music of this film is also not impressive. Only change noticed is foreign location. What is interesting in this film is its climax, which unfolds the mystery behind the guest couple’s visit to London, after arrival of the character played by Sharad kelkar in cameo appearance.

Performances of lead couple are just fine, but both Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi  have impressed more. The screenplay of this film has been stretched more than required, especially involving repeated interactions between Paresh Rawal and  Aryan’s boss. The film has therefore turned out to not so impressive comedy drama.
