Defending champions Indian FC found the going tough and were forced to share honours as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kalina Rangers in the opening Men’s round-robin league match of the 17th Kalina Football League 2017, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the Our Lady of Egypt Church grounds, Kalina.
In a keenly fought match contested between two evenly matched teams, both sides created quite a number of chances, but the game could only produce two goals. Indian FC scored their goal through Prathamesh Shinde, while Melwin Barboza struck the lone goal for Kalina Rangers.
Later in another match, FC Kolovery struck good form capitalised of the opportunities that came their way to blank Kalina United 2-0. Experienced striker Russel Galbano and Cedric D’Mello were bang on target scoring a goal each for the Kolovery outfit.
