17th Kalina Football League 2017
Favourites and defending champions Indian FC carved out a tight 1-0 win against a spirited Egyptian Boys SC in a well-contested Men’s Open 8th round match of the 17th Kalina Football League 2017, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the Our Lady of Egypt Church grounds, Kalina.
The match played between two evenly balanced sides witnessed an interesting and absorbing battle for supremacy, but Indian FC managed to score the decisive winner through consistent scorer Kalpesh Rane to snatch the win and collect the full three points.
Meanwhile, FC Kolovery tamed KVB Trapich coasting to a comfortable 3-1 margin of victory. Bhomeet Vakharia, Russell Galbano and Alan Fernandes were on target with a goal apiece for Kolovery, while the losers reduced the margin through Prathmesh Gamre.
In an Inter-Parish match for men’s veterans, Our Lady of Lourdes, Orlem prevailed over Holy Cross, Kurla 2-1. Ryan D’Souza scored both the goals for the Orlem side while Deepak K. Scored for the Kurla team.
