10 years ago when Imtiaz Ali made a film ‘Jab We met’ it turned out to be hit, because of its gripping and entertaining screenplay besides wonderful songs. Thereafter he made films like ‘Love Aaj kal’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Cocktial’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Tamasha’, but except for ‘Rockstar’ no other film could invite the attention of the audience. Now, through his latest released film ‘Jab Harry met Sejal’ he tried to offer the story of Harinder Singh Nehra a tourist guide in Amsterdam, who comes across a Gujarathi girl Sejal Zaveri, who has lost her engagement ring.
Harry agrees to help her find her ring. He reveals to her why he left his home and how his plan to become a singer did not work out. Both Harry and Sejal travel to places to keep the audience happy with tourism experience. In this process, Harry falls in love with Sejal, but does not reveal it to her as she is engaged to someone else. They soon discover something else in search of the ring. And, from there onwards, you feel that the film’s screenplay is being dragged.
Frankly speaking, this film doesn’t meet the expectations of the audience, who visit the cinema hall with great expectations. Just a casual entertainer. Watch it at your own risk, if you are a big fan of Shahrukh or Anushka.
