Jagnade stars in St.Paul’s victory


Chetan Jagnade’s doubles strikes enabled St. Paul’s SC stage a solid fight back to record a close 3-2 win against Mumbai Warriors in a First Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel. Arnold Saldanha got the third goal for the winners, while Prathamesh Kamble and Lionel Caldeira got the goals for the losing side.

 

In a keenly contested encounter, Warriors snatched the initiative as Prathamesh Kamble found the back of the net in the very fourth minute. But, St. Paul’s immediately replied back with striker Arnold Saldanha netting the equaliser in the 12th minute. Later, Jagnade hit the target in the 25th minute to help St. Paul’s take a 2-1 half-time advantage.

 

After the change of ends, Jagnade was again on the mark scoring St. Paul’s third goal in the 48th minute (3-1). Warriors managed to reduced the margin with Lionel Caldeira netting their second goal in the 76th minute.
