KalinaUnited,AI Colony into semis


Kalina United and Air India Colony, both recorded resounding victories in their respective final round matches and booked their berths in the semi-final round in the Men’s Open category of the 17th Kalina Football League 2017, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the Our Lady of Egypt Church ground, Kalina.

In the ninth and concluding round, Kalina United blanked Egyptian Boys 3-0 and the Colony side defeated Kalina Rangers 3-1. Both finished with an identical tally of 19 points and in joint first position.

Kalina United scored through Alistair D’Souza, Monish D’Souza and Aaron Lobo, all netting a goal each. For Air India Colony the goals were scored by Deepak Apte, Vinod Pandey and Kishan Singh, while Kalina Rangers pulled one back through Tilak Shetty.

FC Kolovery who drew goalless with KVB Franco Sports and Indian FC who lost to Kalina Village Boys in the last match also advanced to the semi-final. Both FC Kolovery and last year’s champions Indian FC finished with 18 points each.

Results – Men Open (9th round): Air India Colony 3 (Deepak Apte 1, Vinod Pandey 1, Kishan Singh 1) beat Kalina Rangers 1 (Tilak Shetty 1).

FC Kolovery Z3 1 (Justin Chakalpadth 1) beat KVB Trapich 0.

Kalina Village Boys 2 (Sheldon Sharma 2) beat Indian FC 0.
