MCC(India)earn 3rd place


Thanks for some super allround show from skipper Vinayak Samant,Swapnil Salvi, Puskraj Chavan and Parag Khanapurkar,  MCC (India), finished third in the Four-Nation International Inter-Club Invitation Cricket Tournament, for Tun Ahmed Sarji Cup which got over at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on Monday.  MCC won three out of five matches . the coveted trophy was won by Sri Lanka’s Chilaw Marines, who thrashed Bangladesh’s Kalbagan by 240 runs.

MCC lost to the ultimate winners Sri Lanka’s  Chilaw Marines .in first league game. Later, however,  they  beat strong Bangladesh’s Kalbagan and Malaysia’s  Malays in league games. However, Bangladesh’s Kalbagan returned the compliments by beating them in the semifinals. In the match for third place MCC India repeated their league victory over  Malaysian Malays by beating them again by 41 runs to earn the third-place trophy.

 

The MCC (India) were   sponsored by Target Hospitality, which  was led by former Mumbai Ranji wicket-keeper Vinayak Samant and with Jwala Singh as coach-cum-manager.

Bangladesh ( Kalabagan) 202 all out in 48 overs ( Puskraj Chavan 3/20,Parag khanapurkar 2/46, Karan Nande 2/40) lost to MCC (India) 203/1 in 30 overs (Swapnil salvi n.o. 82,n.o. 63, Raghav Datta 45). By 9 wkts.

 

Malaysia (Malays) 97 all out in 27 overs (Puskraj Chavan 3 for 13;Karan Nande 2/18, Mohamed Amir 2 for 37, Yash Tandon 2 for 10)   lost to MCC (India)  98/6 in 33 overs ( Puskraj Chavan 40) by 6 wkts..

 

Match for third place:. MCC (India)   157 all out (Parag Khanapurkar 40, Karan Nande 26 Derak Michael 3/22, Fitri Sham 3/32) bt Malaysia (Malays) 116 (Puskraj Chavan 2/11, Yash Tandon 2/22, Karan Nande 2/24, Mohamed Amir 2/34) by 41 runs.
