The Mumbai City District Table Tennis Association’s Inter Office and Inter Club Table Tennis League matches which were played for last 26 days, concluded at NSCI, Mumbai with finals of third and fourth division matches of offices and clubs. More than the inter office, the inter club matches witnessed good competition. Every player in this tournament displayed fighting spirit, generating more interest among the spectators who turned up in large number, to support their teams.
MLWB-KKB-Winners 1st Division
This year, we saw many new teams joining the Inter Club TT league. EBBSGDA which had entered four teams in 2nd and 4th division respectively, put up a good show on debut in 2nd division. The comprising of Kedar kasbekar, Dhruv Jhaveri, Akash kasar & Tanmay Mulmule managed to bag runners up position, in spite of tough opposition from their group teams like Students YMCA, PJ Hindu Gymkhana, Garware, MLWB-KKB, MLWB-NMJ , all of them with renowned players on their side.

Finally, it was Students YMCA ‘A’ with stalwarts like Percy Mehta, Ravi Chopra, Suraj Chandrashekhar, Deepak Dudhane and Homi Mehta proved supreme, with star studded PJ Hindu Gymkhana represented by Prakash Kelkar, Jayant Kulkarni, Abhay Mehta, Sanjay Mehta and R.C.Shah securing Bronze in their 2nd division.
The third division witnessed competition among teams like MLWB-KKB, Central YMCA, Student YMCA & NSCI , but the MLWB-KKB ‘B’ team represented Ravi Gulgule, Nitin Walawalkar, Nitin Dolas, kamlakar Vichare & Dilip Adhav dominated with their balanced combination and variety displayed by each player. In the fourth division, the team which had balanced combination and which finally won the championship in their respective group was PM Bath –Mafatlal represented by Dhaval Shah, Ketan Gandhi, Mihir Tambe, Prashant Sanghavi, Suket Sheth.
MLWB-KKB ‘B’ winners 3rd Div’n .
This year’s 1st division Inter Club league witnessed top players in seniors and juniors too. MLWB-KKB ‘D’ team comprising of Eric Fernandes, Noel Pinto,Paresh Murekar, Rupesh Gharat & Mayuresh kelkar were favourites, being the strongest team on papers and they proved their class, winning the Gold. Only tough competition they faced was from PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ team comprising of Saurabh Mohite, Parthav kelkar, Tanmay Rane, Hardik Panchal and Ulhas Shirke, winning the Silver medal.
PM Bath Mafatlal -Winners 4th Division
There was also another neck to neck match noticed between PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ and MLWB-KKB-‘A’ team with Star Player Gaurav Parte, with young Dev Shroff, Rajesh Mudam, Rajesh Singh and Nitin Gavande, which finally won Bronze. There were players like Zubin Mehta( Parsi Gymkhana) , Mustafa Manager( CCI), who displayed good stroke play and consistency. Former international Suhas Kulkarni, his team mate Om Lotlikar ( PJHG ‘B’) struck form at a later stage with wins over Sarosh Shroff and Mustafa Manager respectively. The match between MLWB’KKB’D’ and Parsee Gymkhana on the final day also noticed some sparks, especially during the crucial match between Zubin Mehta and Noel Pinto, which the latter won.
In the women’s first division MLWB –KKB’A’ with strong combination of Shweta Parte, Aslesha Trehan, Mrunmayee Mhatre, Pradya K & Shravani Dhapre with unbeaten record of all wins, managed to win Gold medal with ease. In this women’s League, Hiya Doshi, Tiya Harlaka( Garware), Krisha Agarwal( PJHG), Anagha Joshi,Rucha Manerkar, Nimisha Warang, Shifa Shaikh & Misbah Sumar( MLWB-KKB) displayed good fighting spirit, while playing for their respective teams.
