‘Mukkabaaz’ hits out at the system for unjust happennings

After having worked with director Anurag kashyap, in films like  ‘Gangs of Wasseypur ‘,  ‘Bombay Talkies’, and Ugly , actor turned writer finally found a lifetime role to prove his mettle as an actor through his latest released film ‘Mukkabaaz’, story of which is written by him with the help of other writers.  The film set on the backdrop of  Bareilly district in  Uttar Pradesh and is inspired by a true story , where a boxer was  accused of doping. This is not the only case noticed by the actor turned writer, but had seen many unsuccessful sportspersons  from  our country who had to suffer, because of the fault of the system.Mukkabaaz poster

Besides this timely issue, the film also deals  with the issues such as  of caste system and cattle slaughter in India. The film has been shot in Bareilly, Varanasi and Lucknow to give a realistic look. What is important is that all these issues have been presented very well by director Anurag kashyap in his own style, which has been appreciated by many critics. When this film was premiered during the recently concluded MAMI International Film festival, it received standing ovation.

Besides Vineet Kumar Singh, the other artistes in the film namely  Zoya Hussain, Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Kishan, Shree Dhar Dubey and others have performed well. Music is good and so are the meaningful lyrics , but there are too many songs in this film consuming about 40 minutes of the 2 and half hour playing time of the film , which is also too long. Cinematography done by group of camera persons is fine, which is the best part of the film.  The film is good in parts, where the director hits out at the existing system in our country.
