Sage Bharata’s Natyashastra (the Science of Dramaturgy) is a unique text written in circa 300 B.C. It can be termed as a Workman’s Manual, which gives instructions and analysis regarding every facet of stage presentation. Bharata has taken ‘Woman’ as the centre of any dramatic situation and has given a fantastic analysis of almost every facet of a woman’s psyche – specially in love.
It can be said that LOVE (represented by Rati bhaava leading to Shringaara rasa) is the pivot round, which the drama of life rotates. The workshop will give a detailed treatment to this theme, as well as its usage in classical dance today.
