With his consistent and stylish stroke-play Zubin Taraprewala had invited all the attention of Table tennis lovers, when he remained unbeaten in the First Division Inter Club Table tennis league hosted by MCDTTA. This year too, he showed the signs of remaining unbeaten in the ongoing First Division Inter Club league, as he defeated most of the top players from Mumbai, clearly indicating that he had maintained his form. But, in the last encounter of his team Parsi Gymkhana against MLWB-KKB’D’, Zubin lost to more consistent and strong opponent Noel Pinto, who also won another singles match to give his team Gold.

Earlier, MLWB-KKB ‘D’ scored a narrow victory over well balanced and favourite PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ when Noel proved his supremacy, winning both his singles against Saurabh Mohite and Parthav Kelkar. Though Saurabh and Tanmay Rane had won one match each, MLWB’s second player Paresh Murekar won the decider against Parthav Kelkar.

However, Hindu Gymkhana ‘A’ team members put up a valiant fight against MLWB-KKB ‘A’ to record a 3-2 close win to claim second position and silver medal. In this match, All their three players
Saurabh, Tanmay and Hardik Panchal won one match each. At one stage, MLWB ‘A’ were 2-0 up, but Hardik scored much needed victory over Rajesh Singh to raise some hopes for his team. And, Saurabh and Tanmay took advantage of this opportunity, scoring hard fought wins over Dev Shroff and Gaurav parte respectively. And, this turned out to be the most interesting match of the day.

PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘B’ team represented by Suhas Kulkarni, Soham Rane and Om Lotlikar recorded two successive wins over CCI and Parsi Gymkhana respectively. In their first match, Om Lotlikar caused a major upset when he beat in form Mustafa Manager, who had displayed his best performance on first two days. In their second match against Parsi Gymkhana, former international Suhas Kulkarni scored straight games victory over Sarosh Shroff . Zubin’s efforts of winning both the singles went in vain in this match.
In the Women’s Inter Club League, MLWB KKB’A’ team proved unmatched, as both Shweta Parte and Mrunmayee Mhatre continued with their winning run, assuring Gold for their team in this section. Shweta Parte who also played in the Inter Office Women’s 1st Division league, won another Gold, this time for her employers Reserve Bank of India. Shweta and her partner Shruti T beat young side of Air India 3-0. MLWB KKB ‘C’ team comprising of Nimisha Warang, Shifa Shaikh & Mibah Sumar recorded a narrow victory over PJ Hindu Gymkhana Girls, to secure second position in women’s 1st Division League. All in all, there was a good contest witnessed in this elite division Club league.
