Overall honours for Goenka Trust athletes


Both the boys and girls  belonging to Goenka Educational Trust put up splendid allround combined show to aggregate 102 points in their various age group events  to help them to capture the overall team championships trophy  in  the Mumbai District Annual Athletic Championships, held at Sports Authority of India, Kandivali, here today. However, the Sports Authority of India boys claimed the boys exclusive title with 72 points, followed by Gupta Sports Academy with 53 points, while Goenka Trust also claimed the girls trophy with 65 points.

For Gupta Sports Academy it was a unique double as their men’s trio of Rahul Kadam, Omkar Dalvi and Valentine Fernandes captured the first three positions  to bag the 400m gold. Earlier their another trio Deepak Karde, Hitesh Jadhav and Rahul Ranjane took the gold, silver and bronze respectively in the men’s 200m event.

Chief guest Nimesh Desai, a former National Shot Put and Discus Throw champions,  gave away the prizes.

Winners in the various categories were:

MEN: 400m: 1. Sandeep Singh (Gupta SA) – 49.7 Secs (NMR); 2. Omkar Dalvi (Gupta SA); 3. Valentine Fernandes (Gupta SA).  5000m: 1. Nikhil Gawade (Goenka Edu Trust) – 19:21.3 secs; 2.Akshay Dhumansure (Savio SC); 3. Ramesh Vishwakarma (KES Shroff College).

 

BOYS (U-20): 5000m: 1. Nilesh Aarsekar (Goenka Edu Trust, Goregaon) – 17:27.8 secs. 400m: Rahul Kadam (Gupta SA) – 49.3secs (NMR). (U-18): 400m: 1. Yash Shroff (Prabodhan,Goregaon) – 50.0 secs. (NMR); 2. Yash Sukhwani (Prabodhan,Goregaon); 3.Shivam Talgaonkar (Prabodhan,Goregaon).  DISCUS THROW: Anurag Mali (Savio SC, Andheri) – 35.24 mts. (U-16): 400m: 1. Saptgarshi Das (Lokhandwala Foundation) – 51.1 secs (NMR); 2. Kushal Gandhi (Abhuday SC,Mulund)- 54.0 secs (BMR). JAVELIN THROW: Raj Gupta (St. Lawrence, Kandivali) – 35.92 mts.PENTATHLON: 1.Tarun Pal (SAI, Kandivali)- 3437 pts (NMR); 2. Mohit Ganpule (Udaychal , Vikhroli)- 3355 pts (BMR). (U-14): SHOT PUT: Vishal Shelar (Rustomjee Int.,Dahisar)- 11.18 mts. 600m: Deepak Singh (SAI, Kandivali)- 1:38.1 secs. TRIATHLON: Pradanay Bavaner (SAI,Kandivali)- 1770 pts (NMR); 2. GIRLS (U-20): 400m: Isabella Lobo (Prabodhan,Goregaon)- 58.4 Secs (NMR).  (U-18): 400m: Dzilla Mao (Prabodhan,Goregaon)- 62.1 secs. 3000m: Harshali Bhosle (Rising Star, Dahisar)- 13:06.6 secs (NMR). (U-16): 400m: Krishna Jumani (Prabodhan,Goregaon) – 63.2 secs. PENTATHLON:1. Poorva Sawant (Udaychal, Vikhroli) – 2345 pts (NMR); 2. Disha Joshi (Udaycdhal,Vikhroli) – 2045 pts (BMR); 3. Shipra Jayrajan (VPM,Daahisar) -1744 pts (BMR).  (U-14): 600m: 1.Nyssa Shah (Abhuday SC, Mulund) – 1:46.0 (NMR); 2. Sania Sawant  (Udayachal,  Vikhroli) – 1.47.7 secs (BMR); 3. Kashish Jain (Chembur Trackmasters – 1:49.2secs (BMR). TRIATHLON: Srushti Shetty (Children’s Academy) – 1433 pts.
