FC Pune City was crowned champions of the WIFA Women’s Football Championship, which is being conducted as part of the FIFA-AIFF State Development Project. In the final contested between Pune outfits, FC Pune City riding on the double strikes from Senorita Nogngpluh went on to record an authoritative 3-0 win against United Poona SA, at the Cooperage ground.
Showing better understanding and coordination FC Pune City enjoyed the lion share of the attacks and with some tight defending they kept the rival strikers in check and did not provide them much scope to have a shy at their goal.
Pune City dominating play from the start took an early lead with their hard-working striker Senorita Nogngpluh hitting the target in the very fifth minute. Five minutes later, Pune City doubled the lead when their prolific and consistent scorer Muriel Adam found the back of the net in the 10th minute.
With not much of a challenge from United Poona, the dominant Pune City increased the lead with Senorita striking her second goal in the 22nd minute of the 30 minute encounter.
Having established a commanding 3-0 half time lead, Pune City took things a bit lightly in the second period and seemed satisfied with the efforts and did not add to the scorline.
