Seva Sahayog Foundation adopt Karjat to train schoolchildren in Sports


Seva Sahayog Foundation is doing a commendable job at two remote places near Mumbai. And one of them is Karjat, which is about two hour drive from Mumbai. The Foundation with the help of  Kreeda Vikas Prakalp, Karjat  selected 281 boys and girls from 15 schools located in Karjat and Khalapur region and made their base at Abhinav Jyan Mandir School, karjat, which is the biggest school in Karjat.Seva Sahayog

Before starting their training in different sports like Athletics, Kabaddi, Bbadminton, Kho Kho, table Tennis, Chess, Boxing, Wrestling, Rope Climbing and Malakhamb, a two day workshop was held on Sunday 15th October and Monday 16th October at the Abhinav Jyam Mandir School premises, where elaborate arrangements were made for the say of these students to teach them not only sports discipline but also arrange some demonstrations of some games and talks by experts from different sports.Seva Sahayog5

In the morning session on the first day, Sharad Vaze Founder President of Challenger Chess Academy gave a demonstration on the popular game of Chess and later played simultaneously with those participants, who had opted for this game.

Ulhas Shirke , former national level Table Tennis player and a Fitness expert  briefed the students in the afternoon session about the importance of fitness in every sport. He also conducted fitness test on few students, with the help of Jagannath Mohite, also a national level TT player and Coach. The participants were briefed about importance of warm up before the sports session and few cool down practices after a tiring session.Seva Sahayog 3

One of the students Shubham Jadhav, who passed the fitness tests also displayed his stretching  exercise, to surprise one and all with his gifted skills of flexibility of his muscles. Shubham is good in cricket and possesses the required fitness and stamina , if he receives proper training in this game. 15 year old Kalpesh Kabali who is from this camp, was asked to take part in Powai marathon recently and he won 2nd prize. Like these two students, there are many more from this rural area, who will benefit from  this camp.

The organisers have been receiving good support from Mr. Sanjay Hegde and his wife from Seva Sahayog Foundation who also found a sponsorship from Hercules Hoists for conducting this sports training camp. Among others, who are working hard to conduct this workshop and camp are, Kishore Moghe, Bhagwanrao Sinde,Nandakumar Maner,Sharad Vaze , Naresh Devle and volunteers of Krida Vikas Prakalp, karjat. It will not be surprising to see top level sportspersons emerging to play at national and international level from this rural area.

Seva Sahayog Foundation have also adopted one more village for developing school children in sports activities. But, besides this they are also helping the farmers to deliver their farm products to different housing societies in Mumbai through direct supply. Indeed a commendable job, which needs appreciation. In short, Seva Sahayog has shown the way to other such foundation, to adopt other villages, where the children need such training facilities in sports.
