Vedika,Ronak adjudged best with record-breaking feats


Vedika Amin, of Otters Club  and Ronak Sawant, of Worli’s Police Swimming Pool, were adjudged  the best swimmers in their respective girls under-12 and boys under-10 age groups in the  GMAAA-2nd  Khiladi Connect Inter-Club Age Group swimming championships, held at Tata Swimming Pool, here today.

Vedika, who is just 11, performed a remarkable feat by winning all the five events that she participated and all of them with record-breaking timings. Ronak set the pool on fire as his rewrote four records while winning golds in the 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m back strokes in the boys under-10 category. What was most praiseworthy  feature of his triumph was even though apart from bagging four golds, he also won silver, where he finished second, too was with a new mark. The meet was held for boys and girls in U-14, U-12, U-10 and U-8 age groups.

Individual champions in various age groups were:

GIRLS (U-14): Jispa Doshi (Otters) – 3 golds. ( U-12): Vedika Amin (Otters) – 5 golds (all NMRs).  (U-10)-  Samiruddha Datta (CSMSS) – 2 golds +1 silver; (U-8): Ananya Nayak (Ozone Swimming Pool) –  3 golds+ 1 silver (3NMRs).

BOYS (U-14): Manas Chorge (Goenka Ed Aca) –  – 2golds+ 2 Silver+1brone (2NMRs and 2BMRs).. ( U-12): Manav Gupta (PSP ) – a gold+ 3 silvers (1 NMR).  (U-10)-  Ronak Sawant (PSP)- – 4 golds +1 silver (all new/ meet records). (U-8): Jeet Patil (MSP) –  2 golds+ 1 bronze (1NMR).
