Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi kapoor is no more


Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor , who was known as chocolate hero during 60s is no more. He passed away today after prolonged illness. He was admitted in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital yesterday for chest infection. Shashi kapoor, whose real name was Balbir Raj kapoor belonged to Kapoor family and was youngest son of legend Prithviraj kapoor . He had formed Prithvi Theatres in Juhu, Mumbai along with his wife Jennifer Kendal, to promote talented stage artistes.Shashi kapoor

Till very recently he was brought to this theatre on a wheel chair, but he could not converse with anyone, as he could not recognize anyone. Shashi kapoor had performed in about 100+ Hindi, besides few English films. He won three national awards for his performance and was conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award  in the year 2014. Shashi kapoor started his career in films in 1961 with B.R.Films’  ‘Dharmaputra’  directed by Yash Chopra.

Shashi Kapoor  along with actress Nanda gave  a super hit film ‘Jab jab Phool Khile’.  Nanda acted with Shashi Kapoor in many other films, when she was on the top. His character of Inspector Ravi Verma became popular  , because of his  stylish dialogue delivery. Many Bollywood personalities paid tributes to his departed soul.
