In our Hindi film industry, we have been watching the lead pair of the film, singing and dancing together and running around the trees at picturesque locations, for past several years. And, there is nothing new about it. But, in 1972 director Mohan Sehgal attempted a new experiment through his film ‘Raja Jani’ starring the hit pair of that period, Dharmendra and Hema Malini in the lead. The film also had other popular artistes like Premnath, Prem Chopra and Jhony Walker in the film.

As we all know, Premnath and Prem Chopra were leading villains in Hindi films, during that era. Director Mohan Sehgal incorporated a song sequence, where Hema Malini and villain Prem Chopra were made to dance together in a happy mood, on the song ‘Kitna Majaa Aar aha hai…’. And, it became a big news that time. It was a risk but it worked in film’s favour, as the song became instant hit, along with other popular songs in this film picturised on lead pair. The audience not only enjoyed the song but also liked the sequence, which was entertaining.
