Yajat Thanawala was the star performer in JLTTA (Jayesh Lakhani Table Tennis Academy)’s 3-1 win over Powai’s P-3 Sports in the third division, zone I honours in the MSDTTA lower divisions inter-club table tennis league, hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana here on Sunday.
Yajat won both his singles, beating Vinayak Sood 15-13, 12-10, 12-10 to give his side a winning start and then scored over Debjeet Mukherjee 11-8, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9 to give them the third division honours. Earlier, Manav Shah scored over Kautav Gandhi 11-7, 12-10, 6-11, 12-10, 11-6 to add to JLLTA’s scoreline.
Chembur Gymkhana bagged the zone II honours, with a 3-1 win over GDhatkopar YMCA ‘B’ with Yash Deshmukh winning both his singles and Shankar Ganesh adding to their tally. The only loss for the Chembur Gymkhana side was the defeat of Shailesh Kulkarni at the hands of Krutunj Sonawane.
