Known for their social commitment to encourage women who have excelled in different fields like social work, education, sports, literature, science, environment awareness & health; Zee Marathi channel felicitates 10 such women every year. This year was the third year of their felicitation function, which was held at Dr.kashinath Ghanekar auditorium, in Thane. The telecast of this ceremony, which would inspire many viewers, about the work undertaken by these award recipients, will be shown on 13th September 2015, at 7 pm on Zee Marathi channel.

 This year’s lifetime achievement award for social work, was conferred upon Ms. Meeratai Lad, who has been serving for the welfare of leprosy affected people at Shantivan, educating Aadivasi children and providing love and affection to handicapped and old people from Home for the Aged. Razia Sultana, from Amaravati, who is working for the welfare of downtrodden women was also felicitated for her work in the field of social welfare. Dr.Priyadarshini Karve, received the honours for her work in the field of Environment awareness, for developing a smokeless cooking stove.

 

Among the other award recipients were, long distance runner Kavita Raut, for her excellence in sports, well known writer and poet Kavita Mahajan, Municipal worker Vaishal Barye from Pune, for her cleanliness drive for healthcare, Monica More, for her courage to bounce back in life, in spite of losing both her hands, in train accident, Pooja Ghansarwad, from a poor family, who studied for her 10th exams in the light of a pyre in crematorium, to score 91% marks in SSC exams, young Sweety Pate, an Aerospace Engineer, now working with NASA and above all Seematai Sakhare, from Nagpur, for her fight against injustice on women. The awards were presented by many prominent personalities from like Mr. Arun Kakade, Rohini Hattangadi, Amruta Subhash, Dhanraj Pillay and others.

 

This programme  anchored by well known Marathi artistes Atul Kulkari and Sonali Kulkarni, will be telecast on Zee Marathi channel, on 13th September at 7 pm.
