Late Capt. Vikram Batra, was an officer of the Indian Army. He was awarded the most prestigious ‘Param Vir Chakra’, for his bravery act during the 1999 Kargil War, when he led his battalion on the most difficult mountain warfare operations. He sacrificed his life for the country while securing this target from Pakistani army. He was only 24.
Latest released film ‘Shershah’ is based on the life of Late Vikram Batra who was commissioned into the 13th battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Belonging to a small town in Palanpur in Himachal Pradesh, Vikram also had his girl friend whom he had promised to marry after his mission. Both were intensely in love with each other. The girl is still unmarried and is a teacher at a school in Palanpur.
‘Shershah’ which is written by Sandeep Shrivastava and directed by Vishnuvardhan is a tribute to Late Vikram Batra covering his short life filled with love and at the same time performing the duty for his nation, taking all risks in life. Tamil film director Director Vishnuvardhan who has made his debut in Bollywood with this film, has skillfully captured all the important moments of Vikram Batra’s life, be it his college life, his love story and also his bravery acts during actual army operations, in this biographical war film.
Siddharth Malhotra who has played the lead role of Capt. Vikram Batra has put in his heart and soul into this character with total commitment, while Kiara Advani perfectly suits in the role of his girlfriend Dimple Cheema. Excellent Cinematography by Kamaljeet Negi is the plus point of this film besides superb music score by John Stewart Eduri. ‘Shershaah’ is therefore a timely tribute to legendary Capt. Vikram Batra, at a time when India is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ this year. Certainly a worth watch film on OTT platform at present. The film is available on Amazon Prime Video.
