Vilas Menon Trust does commendable work in H.P.

Former international Table Tennis player Vilas Menon is no more. But, a trust formed in his name by his wife Renu Menon is active in the service of schoolchildren and athletes. Renu who is presently in Mandi, H.P. has been doing a commendable job on behalf of Vilas Menon Trust. Recently, the trust donated stationery, shoes and fans to a Government aided school in Purani Mandi. This trust is sponsored by Bajaj Group. It may be recalled that Vilas Menon was a very good friend of Neeraj Bajaj, now head of Bajaj Group .

At this donation programme held in Purani Mandi school Police Superintendent of H.P. Police, Mandi Shalini Agnihotri and Additional Superintendent Ashish Sharma were present as chief guests. They distributed note books, shoes to the school children and fans to the school. Incidentally, Vilas Menon Trust is also supporting an athlete Chaman Lal who comes from a poor family. Chaman Lal is training at Hamirpur Sports Academy for 1500 m and other long races. He was presented with a cheque of Rs. 5,000/- and the trust will be supporting him for his training and other needs to fulfil his dream of qualifying for Olympics, as he has already broken few records and is working very very hard.  

The initiative taken by Renu Menon on behalf of Vilas Menon Trust was highly appreciated by the dignitaries present on the occasion. Speaking about the future programme, Renu Menon said that on her return to Mumbai, the Trust would like to help school children from Municipal schools in Mumbai.
