‘All is Well’ …between Father and Son

After attaining success through his film ‘OMG’ two years ago, director Umesh Shukla is back; this time with Producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Shyam Bajaj and Varun Bajaj, through their latest released film ‘All is Well’. Like his previous film, this film of Umesh, also deals with a social issue, related to bonding between father and son, in spite of differences arising between them, due  to generation gap.father and son

Co- produced by  Ajay Kapoor, the film stars  Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Asin and Supriya Pathak  in lead roles. Inder Bhalla (Abhishek Bachchan) is asked to leave the house by his adamant father  Mr. Bhalla ( Rishi Kapoor), as he refuses to run the bakery business of the family. Inder migrates to Bangkok, to pursue his music career. His mother Pammi, becomes sick and develops  Alzheimer . When Inder is summoned by the moneylender, to settle issue of their property, to repay the heavy loan borrowed by his father, he returns to India. He finds his girlfriend Nimmi in the same flight. Actually, Nimmi is on her way back home, as her parents have fixed her marriage.

Nimmi, who keeps reading Rhonda Byrne’s  bestseller ‘Secret’ is hopeful that Inder would accept her love. But, Inder is focussed on his career. On their way to respective destinations at airport, in a typical Hindi film style, they are required to share the same taxi and that’s how, Nimmi meets Inder’s parents. But, there is another drama in the waiting; as the moneylender Chima ( Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub) and his goons , ask father and son to sign the papers to sell their property, to repay his loan. Father refuses and then begins the marathon chase , as Cheema follows Bhalla family, including Nimmi and Police after Cheema, to arrest him.  Finally, we see the happy end, as predicted.

‘All is Well’ is a typical entertaining film, if you leave aside logical thinking. In the entire film, you find the humour generated through the scenes of father and son arguments. As the film progresses, we notice some change in them and at the end of the film, it is a surprise gift from son to father. Both, Rishi Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan have played their roles very well. Good support comes from Asin, who has been used just as a show piece in the entire film. She only gets acceptance of her love, at the end of the film. Supriya Pathak has  portrayed the role of a sick woman very skilfully, through her expressions and body language; but in the second half, we almost notice her recovering. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub perfectly fits into the character of Cheema and he generates the required humour, though he plays a villain.

Music by Himesh Reshamiya and others, is just fine for two songs, one of which is an item number picturised on Sonakshi Sinha. Wonderful cinematography by Sameer Arya is the plus point of this film, besides fine performances.  Plot of the film is not new. Don’t expect too much  from this film. ‘All is well’ is otherwise, just an average entertaining comedy film. You can watch this film just for pastime, with your family.
