Based on ‘Chaurasi’ a novel written by Satya Vyas, the latest Web Series ‘Grahan’ has been released on Hotstar app. ‘Grahan’ is set on the backdrop of Bokaro an industrial town in Jharkhand; which was one of the places of the most unfortunate anti Sikh riots which took place after the assassination of Ex PM of India in 1984. But, this sensitive subject also has a love story linked with this period drama, between Rishi Ranjan and Manjeet Chhabra aka Manu played by Anshuman Pushkar and Wamiqa Gabbi respectively.
When IPS Officer Amrita Singh ( Zoya Hussain) is appointed SIT Chief to reinvestigate the Anti Sikh riots in the present day situation shown as 2016, this young dynamic officer faces lot of challenges in the process of her investigation. Her own father Gurusevak ( Pawanraj Malhotra) turns out to be the biggest hurdle in her investigation. But, the committed officer moves ahead to solve the mystery, while carrying out her investigation.
Director Ranjan Chandel has very cleverly presented this 8 part series encasing the love story of Rishi and Manu with the Political conspiracy behind the riots. And that makes the screenplay of ‘Grahan’ filled with mystery from beginning till end. The performances of all the lead actors are simply superb. The director has focussed more on the main issue and the emotions of the characters, rather than using rough language in dialogues, which is usually seen in in most of the action filled web series. Locations used are realistic and so are the costumes used by artistes to indicate the period of the events covered and they have been very skilfully captured by DOP Kamaljeet Negi. Certainly, a worth watch series for all adults.
