India bags double gold in South Asian kho-kho

 

The 13th South Asian Championships begin in Kathmandu & Pokhara, Nepal, Kho-Kho matches were held in Kathmandu. In the final match of men’s and women’s teams of India won their respective matches in a row and won their second gold medal in the South Asian Kho-Kho. Due to the double gold medal won by Indian kho-kho teams, kha-kho players are being showered in all levels.After these competitions, Chandrajit Jadhav, Trustee of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho organization and the jt. Secretary of the Indian Kho-Kho Federation, congratulated all the players and expressed satisfaction over the victory of both teams.

In the final match of the South Asian Kho-Kho, the Indian women won the gold medal in Nepal by 12 points 17-05 aggregate victory over Nepal. In the first innings of the match, Aishwarya Sawant of India defended for three minutes forty seconds; Priyanka Bhopi defended two minutes fifty seconds; Krishna Yadav defended two minutes thirty seconds;In the attack, Indian skipper Nasrin and Kajal Bhor took five-five wickets each. In the second innings, Sasmita Sharma defended for two minutes thirty seconds, Mukesh defended for three minutes, while Kalaivani defended for two minutes and celebrated a big victory. Nepal’s Poonam Tharu defended for a minute and ten seconds and Anjali Thapa tried a strong defence with one minute but could not save Nepal from a big defeat.

In the final match of the South Asian Kho-Kho, India defeated Bangladesh 16-9 by seven points to clinch their second consecutive gold medal. In this match, Deepak Madhav defended for two minutes and ten seconds and struck out five players in his attack. B. Raju defended for two minutes & fifty seconds and dropped two players, Akshay Ganpule defended for two minutes & fifty seconds, Sagar Potdar defended for two minutes twenty seconds. In the attack, Sudarshan and Abhinandan Patil took three wickets each. Bangladesh’s Eidil defended for one minute and twenty seconds, Ganihi and Marma took two wickets each, but these players could not save their team from big defeat.

 

In the men’s third place match, Nepal thrashed Bangladesh by 13-7 points to win the match by an inning & 6 points. In the women’s third place match, Bangladesh won by 10-07 by an inning & three points over Sri Lanka.
