‘Kutte Ki Dum’ offers shoddy entertainment without proper story line

It is said that making a horror film is a serious business. Also making a comedy film is still a serious business. Then one can imagine that difficultly serious business it must be to make a horror-comedy film. But director Sunil Patel has fearlessly ventured into this genre and expectedly has  failed miserably. His film Kutte Ki Dum is bizarre from start to end. For comedy he’s used character’s names as Priyanka Chopra, Prem Chopra, Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Dilip Kumar etc. It’s absolutely in bad taste and do not garner a single laugh. Same could be said about horror part. He’s tried to create Zombie effect which is obnoxious. In Hollywood too there are miserable horror movies like John Dies at the End, The Disaster Artist, Creep Show etc. but after watching  ‘Kutte Ki Dum’ they look like classics.Kutte Ki Dum

There are three princes named Dilip Kumar (Lalit Singh Rao), Raj Kumar (Jasbir Randhawa) and Sanjeev Kumar (Jass Boparai) who earn money cheating people. This parent less trio’s Mama, Ashok Kumar (Bhushan Kumar), is a respectable entity in the village and is a man of principles. Their ‘Khandani Talwar’ is stolen by a gangster named Prem Chopra (Satnam Singh) who has hidden the same in a ‘Haveli’ where evil spirit wanders. His daughter Priyanka Chopra (Tanya Daang) resorts to black mailing, stealing etc to make money as her father is a miser who doesn’t give her any money. To establish this director has shown Priyanka in a mini dress wherein she says to her father “You bought this dress, which was long then, when I was 12 years old. I am still wearing it as a mini dress”. This is the idea of comedy in this movie and this torture goes on for 143 minutes. Ashok Kumar decides to get back their ‘Khandani Talwar’ back from Prem Chopra and kidnaps him and keeps him in ‘Bhutiya Haveli’. Writer shows novelty here by showing a villain being kidnapped. Suddenly zombies appear from ‘Bhutiya Haveli’ and this so called comedy  film changes track to horror genre. After a lots of chaos good triumphs over evil and finally the movie ends.

Kutte Ki Dum doesn’t have a story line. There is nothing in the form of screenplay .Everyone in the film overacts and the casual humour fails to garner laughter. Music is below par and songs appear abruptly.

All in all  the film offers shoddy  entertainment without  proper story line.
