Shah Rukh –Kajol starrer film ’Dilwale’ fails to impress

20 years ago they performed together, in the film ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and since then the chemistry of ShahRukh Khan and Kajol worked very well, in subsequent films like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi kabhi Gham’ and ‘My Name is Khan’. Now, they were once again brought together, in Gauri Khan & Rohit Shetty’s latest film ‘Dilwale’; but, in spite of their presence in this film, the film has failed to impress.Dilwale homepage

Directed by Rohit Shetty, this is a very badly presented film, with weak screenplay and not so appealing dialogues. Though, the film presents two more youngsters Varun Dhavan & Kriti Sanon( Heropanthi’ fame) in parallel roles, the presentation of their characters in the story, itself  is a big disappointment. The film’s story is the same old tale of two underworld Dons ( Vinod Khanna & Kabir Bedi) involved in all illegal trade and their son and daughter respectively( ShahRukh Khan & Kajol)  falling in love with each other. They separate over misunderstanding. Years later, their younger brother & sister respectively (Varun & Kriti) also fall in love with each other and they try to bring their elder brother & sister respectively, together again.

But, while presenting this simple predictable tale, there are many characters inserted into the screenplay, played by artistes like Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Jhony Lever and others; who instead of entertaining are really boring. Perhaps, it is for the first time, Jhony Lever and Boman Irani have failed to entertain. And, the reason being simple, their characters are badly presented. Music by Pritam Chakraborty is just fine for one song; but background music is impressive. The only plus point of this film is wonderful photography by  Dudley. He has captured the beautiful outdoor locations, very skilfully, giving pleasure to the eyes. Kajol should thank him, for making her look younger. Only those fans of ShahRukh and kajol may like to see this film. Otherwise, there is nothing much worth praising about this film.
