‘Sooryavanshi’ – An action filled mass entertainer

Director Rohit Shetty’s films have always done very good business . With his successful formula of combining action with humour, he has very well managed to entertain the audience. Ever since he made films on Mumbai Police with his hero playing a Super Cop, his films have received overwhelming response. Best examples are his films ‘’Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’, ‘Simba’ and his latest released film ‘Suryavanshi’.Sooryavanshi Poster

In spite of lockdown restrictions, ‘Sooryavanshi’ did good business in theatres and is now catching the attention of home viewers on Netflix channel. As clearly hinted at the end of Rohit Shetty’s  last film ‘Simba’, we find Akshay Kumar playing the Super Cop DCP Veer Sooryavanshi  in  this  new film, fulfilling all the requirements of an Action hero. In this film, he is chosen to head the ATS  team to foil the attempt of a terrorist group on targeting few places in Mumbai city.

Always giving top priority to his job, DCP Veer however faces the wrath from his wife Dr. Ria ( Katrina Kaif) for not giving sufficient time to her and his 8 year old son. However, the Chief Minister and IG Police are happy with his work and so are his team members, who feel safe during his well planned operations. So, in this film our Super Cop plans his different operations systematically to nab the terrorists and the sleeper cells  operating in the state. However, in the climax, he finds the timely help from Singham and Simba much to the delight of the audience, to make this concluding part more humorous besides action filled sequences. And this makes ‘Sooryavanshi’ a mass entertainer.

As expected, Akshay Kumar is at his best in this film, with good support coming from his ATS team members, superiors and his wife played by Katrina Kaif. Marathi actress Sharvari Lohokare who plays the wife of one of his team member Police Officer finds very good scope to prove her acting talent in this film. Among others, Uday Tikekar, Javed Jaffery ,Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Sikander Kher, Rajendra Gupta and others also impress with their respective performances in the intriguing screenplay of this film. Certainly, a gripping entertainer.
