Goalkeepers stand tall as tie ends in goalless draw

Lepa Academy custodian Shikar More and his I.C. United SA counterpart Valerian D’Costa, were both outstanding under their respective goalposts and made some excellent saves as the two teams settled for a goalless draw in a third round league match of the inaugural Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL), organized by the Borivali Sports Foundation, and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi Ground, Borivali (W).

The young energetic and agile goalkeeper Shikar displayed tremendous confidence as he produced quite a number of spectacular efforts to deny the rival attackers from finding the net. At the opposite end, Valerian was equally brilliant and also made a couple of timely saves to thwart attempts from the opponents.

However, the younger Shikar for his exploits was selected for the ‘BIG BOSS Player of the match’ award.

In another league match, Castle Boys SC had things much their own way against a young, inexperienced I.C. Colts FC and went on to record a facile 7-0 victory after leading 5-0 at the break. The star of Castle Boys win was Ramesh Singh who slammed home four goals, while Desmond Noronha netted a brace and Brendon D’Mello got one to seal the win. Ramesh won the obvious choice to win the ‘Big Boss-Player of the match’ award.

Results (round 3):  Castle Boys FC 7 (Ramesh Singh 4, Desmond Noronha 2, Brendon D’Mello) beat I.C. Colts FC 0. BIG BOSS Player of the match: Ramesh Singh (Castle Boys).

I.C. United SA 0 drew with Lepa Academy 0. BIG BOSS Player of the match: Shikar More (Lepa Academy).
