Goans storm another big victory


Maintaining their high-scoring run of form, Goan Sports Association (GSA) recorded another authoritative victory defeating Catholic Gymkhana by a whopping 10-0 margin in First Division match of the MHAL (Mumbai Hockey Association Limited) League 2016-2017 and played at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Saturday. The Goans enjoyed a commanding 4-0 half-time lead.

The Goan outfit was well-served by mercurial centre-forward Manoj Lokhande who hammered home four goals. Lokhande’s teammates, Ashok Kumar netted three, N. Kumar got a brace of goals and Lalit K. struck one to round of the margin of victory.

Earlier in a Fourth Division encounter, Nashik XI scored once in each half to carve out a hard-fought 2-1 win against Guru Nanak H.S., Koliwada. Tejas Shinde and Alkesh Parare scored a goal each to secure the win for the Nashik out. Nitin Dhika pulled one back for the Guru Nanak side.

Results – Div-IV: Nashik XI 2 (Tejas Shinde, Alkesh Parare) beat Guru Nanak H.S., Koliwada 1 (Nitin Dhika).
