Jamnabai Narsee School teams record wins in opening matches


Jamnabai Narsee School from Mumbai, Maharashtra made bright starts with their junior boys, senior girls and senior boys teams winning their respective group matches on the opening day of the 2nd 11even Sports Inter-School Table Tennis National Championships 2016, jointly organized by 11even Sports (ESPL) and Table Tennis Association of Baroda (TTAB), and played at Sama Indoor Sports Complex, Vadodara on Saturday.

In the junior boys Group ‘A’ team championship league match, Jamnabai defeated Telengana’s St. Paul’s 3-1, while their Senior outfit enjoyed a much easier time as they blanked KIIT Bhuvaneswar, Odisha 3-0 for their first win in Group ‘A’ league.

The Jamnabai girl’s senior team also won with too much of effort as they handed Kerala’s St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian School a 3-0 defeat.

In junior girls team event first round match, Gujarat’s G.M. Donda Primary School comfortably defeated SICA SS School from Madhya Pradesh by a 3-0 margin.

Later, in the junior boy’s team event, Navrachna School from Gujarat got the better of Tangjeng Ninothon Flowers School, Manipur by a 3-1 score line.

Earlier, a colourful ceremony marked the opening of the 2nd 11even Sports Inter-Schools Table Tennis National Champion 2016 at the Sama Sports Complex, Vadodara, Gujarat on Saturday morning.

 

Children from the participating school teams from 28 states in India took part in the march past in the presence of Dhanraj Choudhary, Secretary General,  TTFI; 11even Sports,  Director, Kamlesh Mehta, an 8-time men’s singles National & Arjuna Awardee; Jayben Thakkar, President, TTAB; Sandeep Pradhan, Director General,  SAG; Kalpesh Thakkar, Organising Secretary; Indian national coach Massimo Costantini and other dignitaries.

 

The dignitaries then lit the traditional lamp followed by the oath taking ceremony. This was followed a cultural programme of traditional dances by the local people.
