Kalpesh Rane’s heroics helps Indian FC win

Kalpesh Rane’s heroics and his lone strike was instrumental in Indian FC snatching a crucial 1-0 win against a spirited Egyptian Boys SC in an absorbing and well-contested penultimate round match in the Men’s Open category of the 17th Kalina Football League 2017, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the Our Lady of Egypt Church grounds, Kalina.

 

Earlier, Air India Colony registered an identical 1-0 win against former champs Kalina Village Boys with striker Divesh Rajput netting the all-important winning goal.

 

Meanwhile, FC Kolovery had things much under control as they stormed to a 3-1 victory against KVB Trapich in another league encounter. For FC Kolovery the goals came through the efforts from Bhomeet Vakharia, Russell Galbano and Alan Fernandes, all striking a goal each to seal the win. The losers reduced the margin through Prathmesh Gamre’s goal.

 

In an Inter-Parish match for men’s veterans, Our Lady of Lourdes, Orlem prevailed over Holy Cross, Kurla 2-1. Ryan D’Souza scored both the goals for the Orlem side while Deepak K. Scored for the Kurla team.

 

Results – Men Open (8th round): FC Kolovery 3 (Bhomeet Vakharia 1, Russell Galbano 1, Alan Fernandes 1) beat KVB Trapich 1 (Prathmesh Gamre 1).
