Nishant Dossa cruises into 2nd round


 

Nishant Dossa of Cricket Club of India, was in good nick and convincingly defeated Sanjeev Shah of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana by a 3-1 margin in a best-of-five frame first round match of the Rs 12.25 lakh prize-money CCI All India Open Snooker Championship 2018, and played at the CCI’s Wilson Jones Billiards Room, on Sunday morning.

Having returned after a long flight back to Mumbai early in the morning, Nishant showed no signs of jetlag as he potted quite consistently and with some clever, safety play, he managed to sideline his rival Sanjeev, by coasting to a 73-25, 38-61, 71-49, 60-40 victory. He will meet Cherag Ramakrishnan in the next round on Tuesday.

 

Meanwhile, talented youngster Sumehr Magoof Khar Gymkhana showed great touch and cruised to an easy 3-0 win against the experienced Anurag Bagri of Elphinstone Cricket Club in another first round tie. The 13-year-old Sumehr showed fluency with his potting and with good selection of shots he charged to a fluent 71-35, 50-27, 56-32 victory.

 

Manan Shah of Malabar Hill Club also enjoyed a good run as he overcame Pratik Thakkar of Thane, in three straight frames to also advance to the second round. The Malabar Hill cueist was in complete control and eased to 51-7, 63-25, 70-26 win.

 

Telangana’s B.L. Dheeraj had a good roll of the balls and defeated S.R. Vaid of Cricket Club of India in three quick frames. Dheeraj quickly adapted to the table and eased to a 77-20, 55-7, 62-16 win.
