Veteran Cine-Photographer B.K. Tambe passed away today afternoon after a brief illness. He was 79. Mr. Tambe offered his services to Bollywood for almost six decades. He was very popular among film artistes right from the time of Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Rekha to the next generation of artistes like Rajnikant, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Kajol, Ajay Devgn and now among the new generation artistes . They all treated him well.
I still remember, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan attended wedding of his daughter to bless her with his physical presence. He had personal relations with many artistes. During 70s and early 80s, he was master of black n white photography, which had a big demand in newspapers and film magazines. As a freelance cine photographer, Mr. Tambe contributed to many publications in Hindi, Marathi, English, Gujarathi and also in other languages. He was very close to South Superstar Rajanikant, who had invited him once to Chennai to cover the premiere of one of his films.
With his passing away, Bollywood has lost a committed photographer, who never missed any film fuction. Magzmumbai offers deep condolences to his family members.
