Kho-Kho Federation of India’s Treasury Now in Maharashtra’s Hands!

The elections for the Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI) for the term 2025–2029 were conducted smoothly and unopposed, showcasing unity and coordination across the national Kho-Kho community. In this unanimous process, Maharashtra made a notable stride by securing the crucial Treasurer’s post in the national federation. Sudhanshu Mittal from Delhi elected unopposed as President, while Upkar Singh Virk from Punjab elected unopposed as General Secretary. Former Judge Kamini Lau served as the Election Officer for this election.

Adv. Govind Sharma, Treasurer of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association, was elected unopposed as Treasurer of KKFI, marking Maharashtra’s return to this key position after nearly two to three terms since the tenure of the late Mahesh Medhekar. Simultaneously, Mrs. Ashwini Patil, Vice President of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association, was also elected unopposed as Member of the Athletic Commission of KKFI.

Adv. Sharma previously served as a Selection Committee Member for India’s team during the 1st Kho-Kho World Cup held from January 13 to 19, 2025, at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. A seasoned sports administrator, he has also held various important roles:

Since 2016, Adv. Sharma has consistently contributed to state and national Kho-Kho tournaments as a selection committee member. His outstanding contributions have earned him multiple accolades from the Government of Maharashtra, including the District Best Sports Organizer Award and District Sports Mentor Award (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar).
