Khar Gym felicitates champion teams

The Bhagubhai Khichadia-Khar Gymkhana Cricket Tournament for U-16 Schoolboys has, in the past, seen cricketers, both international and from Mumbai, participate before they, in turn, made their presence felt on the international and national stage. Thus, the annual prize distribution function of both the Seth Gordhandas Karsondas Challenge Shield Cricket Tournament and Bhagubhai Khichadia-Khar Gymkhana Cricket Tournament, held at the Khar Gymkhana premises, was entertaining and eventful.

Players of Swami Vivekanand International School receive the Bhagubhai Khichadia-Khar Gymkhana Cricket Challenge Shield from MCA President Ajinkya Naik and Khar Gymkhana President Gaurav Kapadia.

Winners of the Gordhandas tournament were Gaud Union Sports Club, who secured a cheque of Rs. 50,000, and Ours CC, Virar, received a cheque of Rs. 30,000 as a prize for finishing as runners-up. There were also prizes for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Best Allrounder of the Tournament, who received Trophies and a cheque of Rs 5000 from Khar Gymkhana and another cheque of Rs 5000 from Kulin Asher. The Best Bowler got an additional prize of Rs 5000 on behalf of Late Shri Chhotubhai Chandarana.

Apart from this there were Batting and Bowling prizes of Rs 3000 each presented by Khar Gymkhana. The tournaments for the past many years have been conducted by the late Chhotubhai Chandarana and Iqbal Bhabha and for his meritorious service, Bhabha was presented with a Silver Plaque.

Important dignitaries who graced the occasion included Ajinkya Naik, President of MCA, Abhay Hadap – Hon.
