Anay Karambelkar put up a good show, while overcoming Nimith Shetty in the Boys U-13 group league stage, before entering the main draw of the MCF-TSTTA- 2nd Ranking table tennis tournament, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civic Federation at their Sports Complex at Borivali, here today. Anay who topped the Group 2, had a tough match against Nimith Shetty before overcoming his equally aggressive opponent 12-10, 5-11, 11-7, 11-13 , & 11-8 in a five set thriller. When the set scores levelled at 2-2, it was anybody’s match; but Anay played a controlled game in the decider to win this crucial match to top his group.

In another well contested crucial match of Group 5, Swanand Naik managed to score over Vivikt Shroff 11-7, 4-11, 7-11, 11-9, 12-10 and qualified with 2nd position from his group, for the main draw. From this group Idhant Deshpande topped with no. 1 position. Vihaan Jain and Aryavir Singh topped with no. 1 and no. 2 positions respectively, in another tough group competition leaving behind Raghav Bhalkar Nikesh Kute with four points each.
Besides the above four players, others who qualified from different groups for the main draw were, Aadit Sonavne(I) and Eshaan Puranik(II), Aarav Shah (I) & Aarush Ghadi(II), Meet Parmar(I) & Hitesh Sarda(II), Krishav Panchal(I) & Shriyan Yerukar (I), Mehaan Shah(I) & Samar Khadke(II), Yuvraj Khandwala( I) &Yudhishtir Talekar (II), Shravan Vijay (I) & Nimit Kute(II).

In the Girls U-15 Group 5 league matches, 10 year old Radhya Vora, student of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu, invited all the attention with her wonderful controlled attacking game. She stretched seasoned Ayushi Shirgaonkar to four games, before going down 7-11, 10-12, 13-11,4-11. Radhya, however managed to qualify for the main draw, winning her other two matches and securing 2nd position from her group.
