A determined batting performance from opening bat Rudra Dhandy whose century knock of 138 runs(159-balls, 20×4,1×6) lifted hosts Mumbai Police Gymkhana to a respectable total of 292 for 9 wickets in 59.5 overs against Cricket Club of India in the opening Group-D league match of the 78th UPL-Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2025-26, organized jointly by the Commissionerate of Police Greater Mumbai and the Police Shield Committee which commenced at the Police Gymkhana on Friday.

Sent in to bat, Mumbai Police struggled initially, but Dhandy played bravely and with decent support from the middle-order batters Mumbai Police reached a challenging total.

Rohit Pol 33 runs, Parag Khanapurkar 33 runs, and Sunil Patil 32 runs made useful contributions with the bat. Left-arm spinner Kartik Mishra (4 for 58) and medium pacer Badrey Alam (2 for 25) were CCIs most successful bowlers.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Shri Deven Bharati, Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Brihanmumbai, at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive, Mumbai on Friday. The Commissioner of Police tossed the coin as the two captains called to decide which teams bats or bowls first. Mr. Bharti, is also the Chairman of the tournament organising committee.
