A five-star performance from Shoaib Baig who struck five goals was the highlight of St. Francis Xavier’s, Kanjumarg 6-1 win against Our Lady of Fatima, Vasai in a Men’s Open third round match of the 45 Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament 2025, played at under floodlights at the WCG tennis courts on Friday night.
Baig’s teammate Bharat Barani netted the sixth goal to complete the winning margin. Michael Silva scored the Vasai team’s consolation goal.
In a closely contested match, Our Lady of Health ‘A’, Versova got the better of Our Lady of the Sea, Madh Island by a narrow 2-1 scoreline. Pratik Vapilkar and Romi Kanvekar were bang on target scoring a goal each for the winning team, while Rishikesh Koli scored for the losing side.
St. Paul’s ‘B’, Dadar continued with the impressive winning form as they defeated Holy Cross, Kurla by a 5-2 margin. Lance Fernandes netted a brace of goals, while Malcolm Blakely, Sanket Bhagat and Ayush Shetty contributed one goal each to seal the win. Allan Correa and Sven Serrao struck a goal each for the Kurla outfit.
