Indian Gym, Corvuss AA win boys’ & girls’ U-18 titles

Indian Gymkhana and Corvuss American Academy emerged champions by winning the boys’ and girls’ U-18 finals respectively in the Bombay YMCA, Ghatkopar Branch, 29th Open State Level Basketball Tournament 2025 at the Ghatkopar YMCA courts. The tournament is being conducted under the auspices of the Maharashtra Basketball Association and the Greater Mumbai North District Basketball Association (GMNDBA).

The boys’ summit clash, contested between Indian Gymkhana and Corvuss American Academy, witness a grim battle for supremacy as both teams fought tooth and nail to gain the upper hand and the scores ran close till the end. Indian Gymkhana held their nerves and did well to snatch a tight 52-51 verdict after leading 15-7 at the half-way stage.

The girls’ title clash was another close affair, before Corvuss AA managed to brush aside a determined challenge St. Anthony’s to seal a hard-fought 60-57 victory. The Academy girls’ enjoyed a 30-22 half-time advantage.

The boys’ match featured impressive performances, with Devesh Kshirsagar scoring 25 points and Kevin Nadar adding 12 points to secure Indian Gymkhana’s win. For Corvuss American Academy, Niranjan Rajnith scored 12 points and Bhanu Rathore contributed 12 points, making them the top scorers of the match.

In the girls’ encounter, Mahek Sharma 25 points and Saanvi Kolisetty18 points were the key players to steer Corvuss AA to victory. St. Anthony’s put up quite a strong fight with Karyaa Pagare scoring 16 points and Sharnya Sawant chipping in with 15 points.

The Indian Gymkhana players received the winning trophy from Mr. Govind Muthkumar, General Secretary, MSBA, and Shishir Aiman, Chairman, Ghatkopar YMCA.

The Corvuss American Academy players received the winners’ trophy along with Allen Kotian, General Secretary, Bombay YMCA.

Results – Boys’ U-18 (final): Indian Gymkhana (Devesh Kshirsagar 25, Kevin Nadar 12) beat Corvuss American Academy (Niranjan Rajnith 12, Bhanu Rathore 12) – 52-51 (Half-time: 15-7).
